DEREK PLASLAIKO

| Spectral Residency 7 Tour |

| Spectral Sound | Bunker, NYC |

This month we present Derek Plaslaiko in Washington, DC on his Spectral Residency 7 Tour. He left us wanting more after his DC debut at Mixed Signals in Dec 2006 and will be tearing up the dancefloor once again.

With a reputation for high energy sets that were versatile and tasteful, Derek slowly became in demand on the Midwestern club circuit; sharing the stage with such techno luminares as John Acquaviva, Kevin Saunderson, Richardo Villalobos, Baby Ford, and Matthew Herbert. It was also during that time Plaslaiko was asked by Carl Craig to perform at the inaugural edition of the Detroit Electronic Music Festival.

In 2003, Plaslaiko became part of the original team of DJs at Detroit’s Untitled parties, sharing a residency with Tadd Mullinix (aka James T. Cotton), Matthew Dear and Mike Servito. In 2004 he made the decision to head east and set up camp in New York City, determined to bring a slice of the Motor City to the Big Apple.

Currently, Derek is one of the resident DJs at the Bunker (Galapagos) in NYC, as well as an integral part of the Wolf + Lamb monthly parties. Most recently, he was honored in the Village Voice 2006’s “Best Of” poll as New York’s Best Techno DJ.

DANNY DEVITO Feat. MEASAX + docindo.dorsey

| Stirsound.com |

Once again, we proudly present two of our favorite local DJ's: Danny Devito (Measax + docindo.dorsey) to warm up the dancefloor for Derek. If you missed them last time here's your chance to hear another mind blowing set by these young lads.

AARON ROBINSON

| Mixed Signals | Proton Radio |

Another one of our local favorites, Aaron Robinson will be starting the night off for us with his smooth, soulful, funky minimal style to ease us into the mood. In today's age of sub-sub-genre formulas, it is rare to find artists who bridge gaps between sounds. Washington, DC based dj Aaron Robinson is not one for the cookie cutter mold.

Drawing from a wide array of musical influences, he deftly crafts sets that walk the line between current styles, pushing the edges of dancefloor sensibility and musical cohesion. Having spent his college years cutting his teeth in the Chicago scene, Aaron is now one of the most polished, experienced young dj's on the circuit. Give him a listen -- your ears will thank you later.

MR. RUBENS  [ TECHNOHUMANITY ]

A recent transplant from Holland, Mr. Rubens' sound is a refreshing break from those that dominate the DC club scene. After making his North American debut at Mixed Signals, he has continued to grace the DC techno scene with his unique djing style. Inspired by seminal artists such as Leftfield, Jeff Mills, and Steve Rachmad, he creates a seamless blend of minimal, funky, and Detroit techno. Having played a laundry list of European hot spots, to include the thriving Techno Humanity parties in the Netherlands, Mr. Rubens is poised to make a similar splash in DC.

MEASAX [ WWW.STIRSOUND.COM ]

Measax Wellman began djing in early 2004 and right before graduating with a degree in philosophy he took on a resident spot at club R2 in Charlottesville, Virginia alongside long time friend Brian Boyd. His djing style was influenced by a love for obscure art and music, which eventually filtering down to minimalism. His production style developed from a childhood obsession with recorders and keyboards and much of it comes from samples he has recorded and collected himself. His sound is influenced by a very eclectic taste in music including bebop jazz, dub reggae, punk rock, underground disco, and early Chicago house. Since then he has made several moves throughout the state and has helped cultivate a small avant-garde group of minimal freaks. With house mates Jeffrey S. and Clinc, he ran the Beat Street weekly events in Fredericksburg, Virginia focused on minimal techno and micro house. Currently, he runs the quarterly Search Light parties in Charlottesville, VA alongside Jason Faso. He has played out at several DC parties to include 88's monthly Pulse party. Currently, Max has a very fresh release on the Stir Sound net label, Avocado Nuts. In Feb 2008, he will making his first debut outside the US in Guadalajara, Mexico at Bar Americas. He has been working tirelessly lately, in the studio and out, so be ready to hear something special.

DOCINDO.DORSEY     [ WWW.STIRSOUND.COM ]

A mirror image in the mind brings this artist into the Capital for a new electronic body shake.  Searching for basic sounds and rhythms has an ear somewhere out there....

STU

Born and raised in Austin, TX, Stuart Werner first started mixing and producing in 1996 and since then has had residencies at the Flash club in Houston, TX and Agave club in Austin, TX.  Since moving from Austin, TX to the DC area, he has made guest appearances around the world from San Francisco, CA to Oslo, Norway exploring his own trademark sound in re-mixing and producing exclusive tracks.  His soon to be released three track ep, "Lifelong Weekend," is much anticipated.

SATORI [ Mixed Signals | 8-OH-1 Records | Plate Techtoniks ]

Satori started spinning in 1995 while living in Minneapolis.  His early influences included the legendary Woody McBride with whom he collaborated for two years before moving to Detroit where the unique sound of that city drew him in to the organic style he currently holds.  Heavily influenced by other notable artists such as Hipp-E, Richie Hawtin, and Marco Carola, Satori performed at Motor Detroit, Five, Buzz at Nation, and many independent parties across the midwest, including playing several times with Philadelphia native and world renowned acid house producer & DJ, Josh Wink. In 2006, Satori made the transition from DJ to promoter and was one of the minds behind the notable Mixed Signals techno parties that took place in DC, bringing in techno artists such as Robosonic,  Dylan Drazen, Jeff Samuel, Derek Plaslaiko, Detroit Techno Militia, Aaron Robinson, amongst others.  Satori is back behind the decks for a special appearance ready to treat us to his seamless blend of tech-house and techno and bring you to a state of sonic nirvana.

BEEMA    [No Man’s Land]

Beema spent much of his time belonging to a different culture, one not in the limelight of American society. He is a member of the underground network of electronic dance music DJs and enthusiasts, sharing an affinity and sense of unity with others who share his same interests. On a regular basis these days, he finds himself playing music to crowds at night clubs and bars across D.C., including a former residency at Dragonfly. Beema plays each gig with his musical passion at the forefront of his mind, not a dollar sign. Electronic Music to him is life, and without it, life is like a beige wall – empty.
